UV inks are used with specific types of printing with a specific type of printer called a UV printer. The reason the specific printer is needed is because UV ink is applied to the printing material using a press and then is passed under a UV light for the drying stage so that it can be dried in a matter of seconds. The UV light is generally mounted on printer after the press so that the print can be moved from the printing stage to the drying stage quickly. UV inks and printers save a lot of time for production since as soon as they are passed under the UV light they are dry and can immediately be moved to the next phase in the production process. UV inks are a substance that has a dual state; they are a solid that remains in a liquid state until it is exposed to a UV light.
