A cold roll laminator would be used when you have something to laminate that is sensitive to heat. Typically cold roll laminators are used used for mountings, signs and heat sensitive materials. Lamination is done by using a lamination film that is coated in an adhesive and protected by a glossy backing, much like a sticker. The backing is peeled off and the film is applied, generally on the top and bottom, of the item being laminated. The item for lamination sandwiched between the lamination film is then passed through a cold roll laminator to press out bubbles and ensure it is affixed well. Cold roll laminators can range from a labour intense hand crank machines to machines that apply the film for you to complex ones that have adjustable rollers and precision settings. Please ensure to read all instructions for your laminator as it might have certain safety precautions and advice on how to get your laminations to come out the best possible way.
